Greetings Like-Minded Friends,
King Dolt Of TexasIt’s official! Rick “Dumber Than Bush” Perry has kicked off his presidential campaign.
Now we get to hear about how extending prayer days to a national level will solve all of our country’s problems. Heck, why not? He was delusional enough to think it would help with the severe drought they’re experiencing in Texas. He declared a state day of prayer in April and now drought conditions are exponentially worse than they were then. Smooth move Ricky! I think God may have turned the channel on Texas. I’m sure the country can hardly wait to hear how he’s going to make prayer days ACTUAL policy. That should solidify his position in the election as King Dolt Of Texas.
If this week taught me anything, it’s that Iowa Republicans have been feverishly creating jobs – WACK JOBS! SCARY SHIT ALERT: Michelle “Crazy Lady” Bachmann won the Iowa straw poll, BARELY beating Ron “The Privatizer” Paul. Does this legitimize Michelle Bachmann as a candidate? For me, NO, but then again there is nothing on the planet that could convince me she is a legitimate candidate. What do you think?
Is it really fair that many corporations making billions in profits are paying NO taxes, or receiving tax rebates, but someone making 40k annually is paying taxes at or around 30%? Hedge fund managers are paying a mere 15% in taxes on the millions they make. When Republicans talk about how so many people aren’t paying taxes, I get it now. As Mitt Romney said, CORPORATIONS ARE PEOPLE! Holy cow Mitt, are you serious? Are computers people too? Make sure your laptop pays its fair share in taxes damn it! You wouldn’t want Obama’s big government IRS eyeballing your tax returns, now would you?
Why can’t we get the message thru to Republicans in Congress that the American people WANT higher taxes on the top 2% and corporations in order to help stimulate the economy and balance our budget? Answer: the number of teabagger skulls made of titanium is far greater than the number of spines made from the nearly indestructible metal.
How is it that we’ve had the Bush tax cuts for more than 10 years now – TEN YEARS!!! – and we’re still waiting for the job creators to do something with that huge chunk of change they’ve been receiving?
If the myth that tax cuts creates jobs were true, unemployment would be at an all time low. Since unemployment is NOT at an all time low, “tax cuts equals job creation” must be declared a myth.
As John Boehner asks everyone but himself, “Where Are The Jobs?” If one of these dipsticks bothered to pay attention to REAL history (instead of their party’s revisionist history) and how we’ve historically pulled ourselves out of depressions and recessions or paid attention to basic economics, they’d realize they’re economic policies are miserable failures. The results of 22 years of Reaganomics irrefutably prove it.
House Republicans (teabagger douchebags) were voted into office in the 2010 mid-term elections by an incredibly stupid, and now remorseful, electorate to supposedly “create jobs”. We’ve yet to see a SINGLE jobs bill come from the House. Instead, they’re focused on the debt and deficit, something the “American people” rank a distant third or lower in almost every poll. More importantly, they’re also hard at work making sure President Obama doesn’t get re-elected. Solving problems is so much less important than playing constant political games and holding our economy hostage isn’t it?
Why is it that the very people that call themselves “Patriots” want to destroy everything that made this country great? The middle class, unions, public education, manufacturing and the ability to put in a hard day’s work and know you’ll be rewarded in the future are all things that epitomize greatness and opportunity in our country but they’re all being attacked with full vigor by the Koch whores and other insidious right wing organizations. Waves of corporate money crash relentlessly into campaign after campaign and we are powerless to stop it, all because the US Supreme Court decided to make corporations people, much to the delight of Mitt Romney.
BUT, there is hope. Wisconsin is the epicenter of a grassroots earthquake of sweeping Progressive change that will shake this country thru 2012, until the Tea Party agenda is a pile of smoking rubble.
The Wisconsin coverage gave me goose bumps as I watched and listened to the stories and optimism. Wisconsin is the model for the rest of the country to use in order to take Congress back to a heavy Democratic majority so we can get past the incessant filibusters and finally put Democratic policies into effect. We’ve had a Democrat in the White House for almost three years but we haven’t seen REAL Democratic policies yet which is what we need to realize the economic results we’re seeking.
Can you imagine where we’d be if there were 60 Progressives in the seats currently occupied by 60 Teabagger morons in Congress?? There are many things we must do in order to change the makeup of Congress to reflect the majority of the country’s interest but none more important than voter turnout. Alan Grayson said himself that the sole reason he lost in 2010 was because of voter turnout, or lack thereof. Democratic turnout in that election was in the low 40% range while Republican voter turnout was in the 60% range. Even though we have a big advantage in registered voters over Republicans (72 million Dems vs. 55 million Republicants) we must still show up and VOTE VOTE VOTE. One more thing, please don’t go vote only for the President. You must also know who you should be voting for in Congress and cast that vote as well. In the 2008 elections it has been said that many showed up solely to vote for Obama and didn’t cast votes for other elections. That’s a sad state of affairs and it must change in 2012.
Citizen’s media (which mainly consists of, but not limited to, websites) is rapidly gaining traction as a primary source of news as more people discover the mainstream media (especially Fox) isn’t reporting accurate information and / or not covering important stories for corporate, political or monetary reasons. Citizen’s media has proven itself to be a reliable source of mainstream news stories, often times correcting distortions or omissions, but more importantly covers news that may not be known to many people but should be. There are no corporate masters to answer to and it can be highly responsive and interactive in addition to being highly conducive for grassroots action and organization.
What we need is a Progressive media machine that can turn up the volume louder than the Fox Noise Misinforpinion Channel. The only way we’re going to be able to overcome such a media juggernaut is by banding together. That and Rupert Murdoch’s gigantic scandals. What a ray of light that story is, huh? It’s a win for citizen’s media, that’s for sure! What a freakin’ moron to start hacking people’s mobile phones and illegally accessing the Prime Minister’s medical and bank records. Can you imagine if someone hacked into President Obama’s records like that? Wow! Can you say “Guantanamo”?
It is important that we all be able to count on the media outlets we get our news from to give us the truth – the WHOLE truth. Based on the need for a higher journalistic standard in today’s media, we’ve decided to create guidelines and standards for media of all types and we’re calling it “Facts Not Fox Media”. The purpose of “Facts Not Fox Media” is to fight misinformation and /or lack of information and try to harbor a media mindset that strives to bring the unfiltered news to all who follow it. Media outlets (citizen’s or otherwise) who participate by displaying the “Facts Not Fox Media” banner on their website or broadcast / print media will be announcing to the world that they hold themselves to the highest standard in journalistic integrity.
If you’re interested in a web banner for your website, please Contact Us as we’ve already created some in many popular sizes.
Stay tuned, because in the coming weeks I’ll be talking more about both Citizen’s media as it relates to politics and developments concerning “Facts Not Fox Media”. I will be making another appearance on Ring Of Fire Radio with Mike Pappantonio within the next couple weeks and I’ll be talking about these things on there as well.
Dennis Kucinich - Champion Of The People
I’ll close by citing another of my favorite Progressive champions in Congress:
This week Dennis Kucinich said in a TV interview:
“America needs President Barack Obama to be FDR. We need him to come forward and say, ‘I see the great misery that exists in this country.’ I see that not only are there 14 million Americans out of work, but another 12 million Americans are under employed. We have to put Americans back to work.”
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!
